"Good Bye Pacifier"

Its official Jaxton no longer has a pacifier! Anyone that knows Jaxton knows that he loved his "binky!!" I stressed for 3 months on how I was going to take it away. My goal was to take the bottle and pacifier away at 12 months. The bottle was no problem but the pacifier was another issue. Knowing that we were moving to my inlaws and then Denver I decided to put it off. I am grateful that I did that because Jaxton did great on the ride to Denver. Two nights ago we lost ALL the pacifiers and decided that instead of buying more we would just "cold turkey it" and just take it away! The first night was brutal! We teased that he was having withdrawals because he would throw himself on the ground in tears and scream! Jace and I did all we could to comfort him but nothing helped. Eventually after 45 minutes he fell asleep and ever since then he has been wonderful! We think he has totally forgotten about it and we think he is going to be a better little boy. Now my next task is to get him to go to sleep on his own and not need Jace and I to lay next to him. Right now it is impossible to work on it because he sleeps on the couch next to our pull out of the wall bed. He hates the pack n play so the couch was the next resort. So now my goal is by May we can lay him in his bed and he will go to sleep by himself. I am always amazed at all the things that are hard about raising a child. I only have one and he is only 14 months and sometimes I feel like I am the worst mother ever but conquering this small "binky" task has given me a bit of confidence. So yah to Jace and I and good job Jaxton, we did it!!

I bet he was a sad little boy without that. He loved his pacifier. He did so good when you moved him to a sippy instead of the bottle. I am now working towards that, and it is hard! Good job.
