In need of a "How to Parent Jaxton" manual

The last couple weeks we have been trying to get Jaxton to go to sleep on his own which in other words means letting him CRY IT OUT! This has been so hard for me! The first night was 30 minutes of crying and then he was out! Now he only cries for about 10 minutes or less! I have been just doing it when I put him down for bed but now I feel like I need to do it in the middle of the night! My only worry is that he might really be hungry! People reassure me he isnt but he screams like he hasnt eaten anything in days! I am posting this to see if anyone out there is doing this and if anyone has some suggestions or words of encouragement.

This is a picture of Jaxton the first night ... this bumper did the trick!

I am sure you will get a ton of comments on certain methods. Clara never really cries when we put her down. I make sure to rock her to sleep when I can and that she has a full belly. Just make sure his needs are met before you put him down. Thats my personal advice. Oh another thing that gets Clara tired is playing with her a TON before she goes to bed. We wrestle, laugh, crawl, roll around on the bed whatever it takes to tire her out :)

I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my baby, I haven't tried it yet, i'm a little nervous! I might be checking back on your comments to see if I can get some advise too! Good Luck!

Sounds tough, but since my baby is almost exactly the same age as Jaxton i can tell you that my little guy sleeps the whole night through, and he is not as plump as your little guy and he is fine with no food. So he might be hungry because hes use to that food in the middle of the night, but he will start to adjust quickly. Good Luck!

A book called Baby Wise changed our whole baby experience when it comes to sleeping through the night . . . try it??

We had a way tough time with Trevin, so I started adding cereal to his bottles to help fill him up. But he still wakes up at 4 every morning for a bottle. I think he has Brad's metabolism because he is always hungry and I really feel like he needs it. But I have found that when I swaddle him and rock him to sleep, he sleeps better. I had a hard time letting him "cry it out." That is my two cents. Hope you work it out. Try the internet too, I found lots of good suggestions. Oh and a warm bath right before bedtime works good too. Good luck!

Im definately not an expert... but the best advise my sister gave me was to just put them to bed and let them cry, otherwise you will be rocking a six year old to bed. When we first started this with oak she screamed for over and hour. I called my mom crying also. She talked me through it. Then in the middle of the noight I would give go in and comfort her but not pick her up. It was the best thing in my life! It is heart wrenching for a mom but it is so good for both of you. Good Luck
